How about a combined swap: Max one 'no-rules'-bracelet and max 3 'themed' bracelets ?
I really like a swap with a theme, but I can see why a no-rules swap is also great :-)

Not all theme swaps need to have very strict guidelines like 'include x colors' either, the theme can still be spring, autumn , winter, etc and have people pick any colors/pattern that makes them think of this theme.

I've been thinking about this no-rules idea - at the end of the day, something like this would still have a theme. I think the goal of such a swap is to really bring out people's creativity and to challenge their skills. Like: "The theme of this swap is unleash your creativity. Make the most creative bracelet you can think of." or "The theme of this swap is 'make something awesome.' Just make an awesome bracelet, however you define it!" or "The theme of this swap is 'challenge yourself.' Make something that's out of your comfort zone." Now that one would be interesting. :D
